My Operation

Thursday, November 22, 2007

Finally had my operation yesterday - 21st November 2007.

My appointment was at 8am and I reached there at 7ish am but I waited for MORE THAN 1/2 A DAY before it's my turn!!

At around 9am+ the nurse came to explain that my operating theatre was occupied by anther doctor who was doing a major op and that my doctors are looking for another theatre for me. Fine, ok, then what can I do? So I waited, and waited, and waited. It's about 11am already so I checked with the nurse who stationed at the counter. She told me that my doctors were occupied in a major op! I was shocked to hear that but I immediately 'realised' that there must be some misunderstanding somewhere. So I tried to explain to the nurse what the other nurse had told me this early morning. She said no, and insisted that my doctors were doing the op for other ppl. I tried to explain again and this time round, I finally understood what had happened.

Well yes, my theatre was indeed occupied by another doctor who needed to do a major op. So my doctors tried to find another theatre for me but in the middle of the op, that the other doctor needed my doctors assistance in the op, so they helped him.

After understanding what had actually happened, I asked the nurse what time the op started and what kind of op was that. I was told that it was a thyroid case and started 7am+. I was then thinking then it should end soon since it's already been a few hours already. But I really couldn't stand the cold anymore and because I haven't had any food nor a sip of water since the night before (I am to fast so that I will not have a complicated op) so besides the cold, my gastric problem may start again so the nurse was helpful enough to try to help me get other doctors to do the op for me but most of them were involved in that major op which occupied my theatre while the rest were involved in their own cases.

I wasn't so happy then as they could have informed me earlier so I may go back home first then suffer there and doing nothing! But since the op is an urgent one and a major one, I told the nurse not to bother searching for doctors to do the op for me. I'll just wait since I'm left with no choice.

Finally it's my turn when the clock struck 1pm. I was pushed into a small theatre room first and when the doctors were here, the nurses then pushed me into another room inside, which was the operating theatre - a theatre which is normally meant for major op. Although mine is not considered as a major op but was not really a minor one either. I was put into a deep sleep under the General Anesthesia so I have no idea how I was being 'slaughtered' and 'slashed'. LOL.

I think I woke up around 3pm+. By that time I was already in the observation room. I felt not only the pain on my operation site but more so on the whole stretch of my chest. My chest was so painful that I could hardly breathe so oxygen was requested by the doctors.

My chest pain did not go away even after an hour's time so I was admitted (supposed to be a day surgery). Both ECGs and blood tests were done to make sure I wasn't having any heart attack as I used to have some heart problem.

The ward which I was awarded sucks. Not all C classes sucks but this particular ward really sucks. The nurses suck too but the Chinese nurses there were quite diligent and responsible but not those Malays there (sorry, not biased but I said it after observing and experiencing it for two days). I requested to be discharged last night in the ward but the nurse told me that it would be troublesome to do so in the night, why not I try asking tomorrow instead (which is today). Fine.

Had difficulty sleeping. I am a light sleeper all the while so I never never get to sleep or have a good rest whenever I am hospitalised and now with the pain from my operation site and the chest, I really suffered quite a deal these two days. Early in the morning I requested for discharge. The doctors came to check on me and made sure that I really feel better then they gave the green light.

Yeh! Can go home loh! I miss my kiddos especially my baby soooooo much! Wonder if he will still want me when he sees me tonight.

Got to see my baby tonight and am glad that he still wants me! But too bad I cannot carry him nor get too close to him...and that's going to last for at least one to two weeks! OMG!

Wish I can carry my baobei boy boy again...*sob sob*.
